On December 6, 2011, the theatre was christened the Ed Mirvish Theatre in honor of the late theatre impresario and businessman “Honest” Ed Mirvish.
Located in the heart of the Downtown Yonge neighbourhood, the Canon is steps from Yonge Dundas Square and Toronto's Eaton Centre shopping mall.
