2007 will be the second time the Rogers Centre SkyDome has played host to the Grey Cup. In 1992 the former SkyDome was the site of the Calgary Stampeders’ victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 24-10. The Toronto Argonauts hope to take the field as the host team for the 2007 Championship. Both Grey Cup Tickets and Toronto Argo Tickets are sold at the Rogers Stadium Box Office and at Ticketmaster.
Dating back to 1909, when the first Grey Cup Championship was held at Rosedale Field in Toronto, The Grey Cup is Canadian Football's premiere event. The Cup itself was donated by Earl Grey, the Governor General of Canada from 1904 to 1911. Grey pronounced that the cup should be awarded to the winner of the nation's rugby football championship. The first Cup was awarded to the University of Toronto after their defeat of the Parkdale Canoe Club 26-6. In 1957, the first televised broadcast of a Grey Cup game occurred.
