Royal York Hotel Toronto
The Royal York Hotel in downtown Toronto is one of Toronto's oldest hotels. Built in 1929 by the Canadian Pacific Railroad it was the tallest building in the commonwealth at the time. It boasted more than 1,000 rooms, a 12,000 book library, and ten ornate elevators. Its concert hall featured a full stage and huge pipe organ, it has a glass-enclosed roof garden, and the largest hotel kitchen in Canada. Most of the old features and decor is still in place in the hotel. The Fairmont hotel chain recently sold the aging Royal York to Oxford Properties of Toronto.
Other nearby Luxury Hotels include the Delta Chelsea, Cosmopolitan Hotel, The Grand Hotel, Cambridge Suites, and the Marriott Eaton Centre Hotel.
