Ontario Place
From May to October, the place to be on the Toronto harbourfront is Ontario Place, a huge, futuristic theme-park built on stilts and small islands. Located a couple of miles east of downtown Toronto, the park features an IMAX theatre and a concert theatre (Molson Amphitheatre).
Built in 1971 to revitalize the Toronto waterfront area, Ontario Place covers three islands with five steel and aluminum pod structures called “pavilions”, which are connected by steel bridges. The three islands: East Island, Centre Island and West Island, offer their own attractions. Ontario Place features amusement park rides, a waterpark playground with a heated waterslide, an Imax Cinema and harbourside restaurants with great views of downtown Toronto. The Atlantis Pavilion offers a new theatre and a large restaurant where you can enjoy an economically priced meal.
