Toronto Beaches A trendy, upscale Toronto neighbourhood just a little different from the rest of the city, the Beaches are very popular with local residents. Occupying an area from Woodbine Avenue to Victoria Park Avenue near the waterfront, they are sure to be busy on the weekend. Walk the boardwalk and get a great view of Downtown Toronto, take a laid back stroll through antique shops and stores, or view the Beaches’ many clapboard cottages. Take a picnic basket with you and enjoy Ashbridges Bay Park. The Beaches also have a paved pathway for walking and rollerblading.

The Beaches are actually divided into four areas: Balmy Beach, Scarboro Beach, Kew Beach and Woodbine Beach. The sand on these beaches may appear to be eroding slightly, but they are abundantly supplied by the Scarborough Bluffs, a rise of sandy cliffs on their eastern shoreline.

The Beaches are easily accessible from downtown by a Queen Street East streetcar. A visit to the area is sure to be a great time. Make a point to visit if you have enough time, especially if your Toronto vacation is during the Jazz Festival in July.

The Toronto Beaches Jazz Festival is a must for jazz lovers. Begun in 1989, when a number of top jazz artists were booked to perform at the Kew Beach Bandshell, this event now draws the very best jazz artists from around North America, and has greatly contributed to the promotion of Canadian jazz in Toronto. Party Gras, Ovation of Jazz, Street Fest and the Jazz Festival are all part of this fun summer festival, which draws millions of fans to the Beaches in July.
