Toronto Harbourfront

Toronto HarbourfrontThe tourist accessible area of Toronto’s waterfront is called the Toronto Harbourfont. Located off of Queen’s Quay West, most people consider this 5-block stretch of wharves and docks as a great launching point for trips to the Toronto Islands for Toronto Harbour cruises. There are fine restaurants to dine in, and some exciting music festivals during the summer. The Harbourfront also hosts two marinas.

The Harbourfront Centre is a 10-acre site stretching from York Quay to John Quay (south of Queen’s Quay West). The Centre is a showcase for Canadian artists and their work; art which would not normally be seen in commercial art venues.

Toronto Harbour Cruises

Toronto HarbourTake a relaxing boat cruise around the Toronto Harbourfront. Just a couple of blocks south of the CN Tower and Skydome, along Queen’s Quay, (the main street of the Harbourfront area), are Toronto’s harbour cruise services. The Harbourfront cruise companies offer cruises not only of the harbour, but also of the Toronto Islands. Some provide cruises to upstate New York, on the southern shore of Lake Ontario.

Although a variety of boats are available, many of the Toronto boat cruises are on classic or antique ships,. Dinner cruises, party cruises and sight-seeing cruises are all very popular. The views of downtown Toronto, the Roger’s Centre and the CN Tower are beautiful, particularly in the evening, and well worth the hour (or two) a cruise takes to complete.
