With a little planning, it’s easy to land yourself right in the middle if an idyllic summer scene. Situated on the shores of Lake Ontario, the Toronto Islands seperate the city from the lake and deliver plenty of sandy beaches and every kind of entertainment. Thousands of people visit the Toronto Islands each summer to enjoy the walking trails, lush gardens, parks and beaches. The most pouplar island destination is Centre Island where you'll find two restuarants, an amusement park, petting zoo, wading pools and so much more.

Ferry over to the Toronto Islands

Accessible only by boat, ther's a never ending array of choices that will bring you to the Toronto Islands

  • Select  from a number of private charter cruise operators offering every kind of experience on a Toronto Harbour Cruise 
  • Some of the Toronto Islands are joined by bridges, while others are accessible only by boat. Although considered a parkland area, there are people living on the islands and they have a small airport located just offshore, in the harbourfront area.
  • The City of Toronto funds ferries from the Harbourfront area, and Cruise Boats from Harbourfront Cruise services also offer daily public and private charter cruises through the Islands. The islands have their own amusement park, and in days past offered a resort, theatre, dance hall and several hotels. There was a baseball park where Babe Ruth hit his first professional homerun.

The Toronto Islands are home to three of Toronto’s Yacht clubs: the Island Yacht Club, the Queen City Yacht Club and the Royal Canadian Yacht Club, as well as a local sailing club. There is a 200 year-old lighthouse on Gibraltar Point, the southern-most tip of the islands.
