Toronto Raptors NBA Basketball

The NBA’s only Canadian franchise features some of the world’s top professional basketball players. The Toronto Raptors play at the Air Canada Centre and great tickets are available. The Air Canada Centre is conveniently located at the foot of Bay Street and is within easy walking distance of downtown Toronto’s best hotels and restaurants.

The Raptors franchise began in 1993. A public contest produced the winning team name – The Raptors, a tribute to the popular Jurassic Park movies. As an expansion team, the Raptors struggled in their early years, but they enjoyed great draft picks. Raptors draft picks have produced some of the stars of the game including Vince Carter, and Damon Stoudamire. Trades of those players have brought in a broader, more diverse array of players, and have made the Raptors a solid NBA contender.

A disappointing 2008-2009 season threw the Raptors into rebuild mode, bringing in nine new players for this season including Hedo Turkoglu, forward Reggie Evans, Jarrett Jack and 1st round draft selection DeMar DeRozan. These newcomers will join veteran forward Chris Bosh, center Andrea Bargnani and point guard Jose Calderon to make an exciting run at the title.
