The game of Hockey is Canada’s national pastime and visitors to Canada will find the game very exciting. It is the fastest sport with continuous action for 60 minutes. There is no better way to spend a weekend in Toronto than visiting a major Toronto attraction, having a great meal at a Toronto restaurant and then heading to the Air Canada Centre to watch the Toronto Maple Leafs play hockey.
The Toronto Maple Leafs hockey club is one of the most talked about teams within the National Hockey League. The Maple Leaf Hockey club dates back to 1917 when they operated under a different name. During the 1950’s and 1960’s they were the most successful hockey team in the NHL. Despite having years where the team didn’t fare well, games were almost always sold out. Until 1999, the Maple Leafs played at Maple Leaf Gardens, a venerable old building that hosted everything from music concerts to track meets.
Today the Maple Leafs play at the Air Canada Center located on Bay Street in Downtown Toronto close to Toronto Harbourfront, CN Tower, and The Rogers Centre (Skydome). Air Canada has a seating capacity of 18,800 for hockey games and 19,800 for basketball games and about 20,000 for concerts. The Toronto Raptors NBA team also has the Air Canada Center as its home.
This year's Leafs team roster has been given an overhaul courtesy of GM Brian Burke. Many new faces join the team including free agents Francois Beauchemin, Mike Komisarek and gritty Garnet Exelby to shore up the defense. An already productive offense led by Jason Blake and Alexei Ponikarovsky gets an assist from game-breaking wing Phil Kessel.
Toronto Maple Leaf Tickets
Tickets to Toronto Maple leaf games are available at the Air Canada Box Office on Bay Street. Leaf tickets are also available online directly at the aircanadacenter.com, ticketmaster.ca or Bass Ticket outlets. Toronto Maple Leaf Tickets can also be purchased from a variety of resellers such as onlineseats.com, showmetickets.com, and through ebay.ca. Most games are sold out so the second hand market is perhaps the only way you’ll be able to buy a ticket and see a game live. You can also purchase Toronto Raptor’s tickets at the above locations. Toronto Blue Jay Tickets are available at the Skydome (Rogers Center) and tickets are usually readily available for Blue Jay games.
Maple Leaf Oldtimers Hockey
Hockey events are held every year with appearances in the Air Canada Centre or the Ricoh (CNE grounds). Oldtimers hockey presents many of the National Hockey League’s former top players, and Toronto Maple Leaf players are often among that group. These events are a lot of fun and tickets to them are more readily available.
The Leafs remain the most popular sports team in Toronto despite the appearance of the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Raptors. Try the ticket providers below for Toronto Maple Leaf Tickets.
